First of all, I’m glad you’re here. Help yourself to coffee or tea, and have a snack. You’ll have to provide it yourself though. Sorry, perishables don’t do well in envelopes and the US postal service doesn’t like when I send coffee through the mail in a plastic bag.
Now that you’re situated, I have a few updates for you all (hence the name of this post).
First
I’ve been a little busy lately, and pretty down too. Work has been tough. To give a little perspective, I unload merchandise for the restaurant I work for five days a week, starting at 5:00 am. Once I finish, I head home for a couple hours before going back to work for my regular shift. On top of that, I have side projects that the restaurant owner needs done. Needless to say, this old man is tired all the time, and my body is starting to turn on me. Damn telomeres…
This is partly why I haven’t been completely consistent with posting as I’ve meant to. It’s just hard to sit down and write reviews and whatnot twice a week when I want to pass out the moment I sit down. Couple that with the fact that my job search following the completion of my Bachelor’s degree has been brutal. Apparently “entry level” in the tech field means “already a consummate expert, but willing to be underpaid”.
Second
I’ve been working on a large-scale project in the aim of utilizing some of the new skills I’ve honed in data analysis. However, my goal is to build up a list of games and their characteristics. I don’t want to give too much away, because I’m just at the data entry level of the project. That and I want to make sure I’m tracking as many variables as possible.
I want granular data! Except without tools to do the work for me, it’s very time consuming. I’m excited to see what the results will be though!
Lastly
Given the fact that I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, my gaming has taken a huge hit too. I haven’t had the energy or desire to play games much lately, but I think that has more to do with my choice to play new things in order to write reviews. I still want to write reviews, but I have this itch to play through some of the older games in my catalog. My old favorites are beckoning, you know?
That itch has given me an idea for a series I might write. No promises or anything, but I want to step outside of my ambitions for a bit. I feel that will be helpful for my gaming health (that’s a thing now).
So, thank you for stopping by. I’ll be here, doing my thing. Stick around if you’d like. We can talk, or you can just listen to me ramble.
You’re doing a great job man, keep it up!

I think the idea of going through older games is a great one and I would be a definite reader, its always nice to feel nostalgia!

It’s never easy, and sometimes a nice break is good. Burning is never good. I kind of have that mindset to to play new things in order to do reviews, but honestly, I think looking back at an old game and writing a review can be super fun and probably generate some good discussion. I should do that more myself 😀

I feel like that candle gets shorter every year, too. That 5:00 AM shift sounds brutal AND you have to go back to work later. Damn…no wonder your gaming and blogging has taken a hit. I need to stop obtaining new games and play the ones I have. I feel like I’m avoiding playing FFV even though that’s part of my big project to play and review them all. I wish I could be more enthused.
