Hey, remember when I used to post things? You would come here to see what I had to say about a game, learn a thing or two about the topic I was ranting about, and possibly even were coerced into playing something you previously had no inclination to play?

Yeah, me too. Those were the good ol’ days.

The question is: what have I been doing all this time?

That’s A Good Question

The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition Uh Oh

What seems to be the problem, officers?

Well, you see… I rediscovered an old obsession of mine. After months of whining and complaining about seeing port after port of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to every platform known to humanity, I caved in an bought a copy for Jennifer to play on the Xbox One. Then I proceeded to play it for her, because she’s still toiling away in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Can you believe the nerve? I just took away what was essentially part of her birthday present!

At any rate, my Khajhiit sorcerer is level 48 and can lob around spells like a boss, though I’m not entirely sure how he’s managed to keep his fur intact.

Of course, what initially began as a character meant to be played similarly to its counterpart in one of the D&D campaigns I’m taking part in quickly spiraled into becoming a character which is equally skilled in archery, blacksmithing, and magic. That’s Skyrim for you!

Where To Next?

Skyrim High Hrothgar

A new Skyrim, from atop High Hrothgar

As you may already know, I also have another love… Cities: Skylines. Interestingly enough, like SkyrimCities: Skylines has extensive modding support. Naturally, the logical progression from Skyrim to a city-building game would be to download a map which is modeled after the province of Skyrim. In the above photo, you can just make out the trio of larger islands in the lake just west of Riften.

New Skyrim is a bustling metropolis now, sporting all manners of unique attractions and diversions. In addition to a maze of highways, there’s a fully functional mass transit system complete with rail and bus lines, as well as cargo and cruise ports to ferry people and goods to the rest of Tamriel. Sure, there’s a little pollution to contend with and the coasts near Dawnstar and Winterhold are inundated with moderately treated sewage, but what else do you expect? Such is the price of progress and the fat stacks of cash the city is sitting on is not going to go to something wasteful like sewage treatment facilities or free mass transit…

But Wait, There’s More!

Forza Horizon 4 Raptor Run.png

Roads? Rivers? Your path is what you make it when you’re in a 4×4 truck!

My life wouldn’t be complete without getting my paws on a copy of Forza Horizon 4 though. After much hemming and hawing, and a little waffling, I finally let Jennifer let me buy it. It’s like she knows when I want something, and just needs to give me the okay to be okay with buying things. Does that sound odd? It should, because it is.

Am I glad I finally caved into buying it? Hell yes! Forza Horizon 4 is awesome, and I can’t wait to put off reviewing it! So far, I’ve made it to level 69 and I have barely even scratched the surface. The bulk of my play time has revolved around me cruising around the UK and wreaking havoc. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to keep me busy when I’m tearing about the countryside, like violating speed limits and jumping off ramps, or just breaking through peoples’ fences and chasing sheep. I’m still not entirely clear about how I can afford to be caught on so many UK speed cameras and still have money in the bank, but I won’t argue. Apparently the Horizon Festival organizers paid off the cops or something.

Other than that, I’ve just been working and trying to fit in gaming when I can.

What about you guys? Been doing anything fun lately?

I'm just a gamer that enjoys talking about my hobbies. I do a little more than that too. I love cooking, grilling, being outdoors, going target shooting, etc.

  1. What a busy guy! I got hit with real life really hard so I’m still toiling through Witcher 3 and trying to balance the job and the rest of my life with blogging, games, and other hobbies I have. Adulting, man… haha

    1. It’s pretty tough, that’s for sure. I feel like I’ve been stretched thin at work, but thankfully it’s calming down a little bit. I worked two 11 hour overnight shifts last week and I was a zombie the rest of the time. Now things are looking up!

How’s The Witcher 3 coming along?

      1. omg I’m glad to hear things are calming down after that!! Yikes. I can’t imagine two 11-hour overnight shifts…

It’s coming along. I took some time off during my recovery. I have some issues with it, but it’s an interesting game, for sure!

        1. I volunteered for them since we needed overnight coverage. I guess the overnight guy took some time off. Well-deserved in my opinion.

No game is without its issues; even I had some problems with The Witcher 3. I’m glad you got a little recovery time!

  2. You have been busy! I want to get Forza Horizon 4 but I am trying to be good and hope that someone takes pity and buys me it for Christmas. I mean I still haven’t done everything (that I want to) in FH2 or FH3 so it isn’t like I can’t get my Forza Horizon fix if I wanted to.

I have been trying to balance a lot of different things but seem to have got back into the swing of things with blogging after a bit of a break. I am hoping to find time to play games at some point and just trying to be an adult. I’m doing a gaming version if Inktober at the moment which is taking up a bit of time each day but is good fun.

    1. I’ve seen some of what you’re been up to with Inktober, and I have to say that it’s pretty cool! I know that adult life can be a major pain…

If you’re interested, I think I have a spare 30-day code for the Game Pass lying around. If you want to check out Forza Horizon 4 without needing to sink cash into it, that’d be an excellent way to try it out!

  3. I’ve been enjoying Forza Horizon 4 too (although I still prefer 3!) thanks to Game Pass. I’m pretty happy I’ve signed up for it!

    1. Me too. Ever since they made it to where Game Pass holders get full access to Xbox One exclusives, I’ve been in heaven.

I’m glad to see that other spouses do that thing where you buy something for your partner and then end up playing it yourself, or you buy something for yourself and they take it over. My wife got the platinum trophy for inFamous Second Son twice and I still haven’t even finished one playthrough. At least it means we get our money’s worth!

  5. Skyrim’s my favorite game ever so I’ll always have time for that :). Great job with your Khajiit by the way!

I’m currently playing Persona 5. It’s actually the only game I’m focusing on at the moment. I have about 60 hours in it. When I’m not on that I’m watching the NFL or reading something about the NFL or just listening to my favorite podcast… about the NFL lol.

After Persona I’m moving on to Dragon Quest 11.

    1. Thank you! Been kinda power-leveling him a bit, but it’s been fun to say the least. Fireball is the bomb.

I’ve heard many good things about Persona 5. I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Is it safe to assume that you like football? Are you a Colts fan?

      1. I’m a hardcore Colts fan. That’s not a good thing these days lol. We lost again yesterday. Our defense couldn’t stop my grandmother from scoring…

Persona 5 is amazing. I love it and I think it’s my favorite game on PS4 at the moment.

Fireball is always awesome in Skyrim.

  6. I dove into Forza Horizon 4 early and so far have got up to level 103 though I’ve seen some players in the 160s already. It’s just a hugely enjoyable racing game that (so far) has kept me occupied as much as its predecessors. Mind you, I still play the others every once in a while… there seems to always be something else to do in these games! 🙂

  7. It sounds like you’ve been having busy fun! I’m working on the end game for Octopath Traveler. I finished all of the characters’ stories and am now doing the after game quests: doing the secondary shrines and more advanced bosses. I wish I could play more than one long game, but I always wind up paying more attention to one over the other
