Why am I doing this to myself?

I’m not sure how many of you have played Alien: Isolation, but I’ve only scratched the surface before. Until yesterday, that is. In honor of my personal designation of February as a month of frights, I decided that my first stop on the way to never sleeping again would be Alien: Isolation.

Just to let you all know, I still haven’t seen the namesake of the franchise yet, but I’m still absolutely terrified. I’m tempted to actually start streaming it just to let everyone get a laugh or two because I’m realizing how big of a baby I am. I spent a good five minutes hiding from nothing in a locker, and a scripted sequence where a light broke scared the hell out of me.

I’m going to be a wreck by the end of this, and SOMA is next after I finish.

So I’m going to ask: Is there anything you’d like to see besides just a review on this? Videos? Updates? EKG reports? I mean, y’all can definitely count on me taking tons of screenshots at least, so there’s that, and I’ll do my best to keep everyone updated.

Also, did you know that the game can pick up the sounds you make? I get the feeling I’m going to die a lot.

  2. I always remember my wife yelling OH SHIT when I was playing this and the alien slithered down from a vent just feet in front of me (facing the wrong way luckily). Mercifully she didn’t wake the toddler.

  3. I was going to tackle Alien: Isolation right after RE 7, but I figured I’d probably be best giving the old ticker a bit of a breather.

Seems like that might’ve been a good decision!

  7. […] I’ve been meaning to return to Alien: Isolation for a while now (if you’re interested, Shelby’s giving it a go right now!), and if there was a VR option, I’d be all over that like….well, like a face-hugger on […]

  8. Nice article. I honestly found the malfunctioning killer androids the scariest part of this game. The alien is a predatory force of nature; not much I can do about that. Getting done in by a bit malfunctioning office equipment? Now thats terrifying. Has me eyeing the copier at work with suspicion.
